William Walter Tiedt, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2024.  William was better known as Bill or Willy.  He was born in Hinsdale, IL December 26th, 1929.  Bill was raised in a small farming community known as Tiedtville back in the day.

William served in the Navy from 1947 to 1951. He didn’t share any details about his time in the service.  He played in the minor baseball league until 1952 as a catcher on the Tarboro Tars Roster.  He worked hard his whole life.  For a period of time Bill owned and managed a Shell gas station.  He worked for Pepperidge Farms for 19 years being promoted to the position as shipping manager before he retired.

William enjoyed golfing, and playing cards with his many friends in his retirement mobile home park. His greatest passion was seeking and collecting antique figures and glassware.  Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is the father of Deborah, Janet, Victoria and Shari (deceased), and the grandfather to seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Viola, his sister Aileen, and brother Norman.

Inurnment was held privately. Arrangements were entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Downers Grove at 630-964-6500.
