Kenneth Vesperman

Kenneth “Ken” Vesperman, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2025. Beloved husband of Robin (nee Seelenbinder); loving father of Heather (Craig) Peterson and Michael (Maia McCann) Vesperman; cherished grandfather of Thomas, Matthew, Ryan, and Owen Peterson and Ryder Vesperman; brother of Carol (Joseph) Truncali; devoted cousin of Linda (Ed) Barry; fond uncle and friend of many.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ken attended Lakeview High School where he played football. He then met and fell in love with his wife, Robin, in 1964 at Wilbur Wright College. Ken worked as an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator from 1972 and was a member of the IUEC Local 2 until he retired in 2007. After retirement, Ken worked for La Grange Public Library as the facilities manager and found joy in giving back to his community. Ken loved entertaining his friends and family, going on walks, and, most of all, traveling and dancing with his wife of 57 years, Robin. While Ken was a lifelong Chicago sports fan, his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Visitation is from 4 to 9pm on Thursday, February 20th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends to meet directly at First Congregational Church of LaGrange, 100 6th Ave., LaGrange on Friday, February 21st at 10am. Interment will take place privately.

Lynda and I always enjoyed the time that we spent with both Ken and Bobbie. We enjoyed our trips to Hayward WI, the river Cruze to Europe, time spent in Dallas and many other moments we spent together over the past 60yrs. Ken’s sense of humor was second to none, he always made me laugh. He was a good friend and he is gone to soon.
Ken was one of my favorite coworkers at the La Grange Public Library – always on an even keel, with a ready smile and a joking manner. I am so glad I got to know him!
We remember Ken always quick with a smile and friendly greeting, very proud of Heather and Michael and enjoying the life he and Robin built together. Ken will be missed but remembered fondly.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences. I always admired how he had such a good time enjoying his grandsons sports. May he Rest In Peace!!
My condolences to your family. I worked with Ken at La Grange Public Library. He was not only a cheerful and kind man but a person with great insights about how to improve things at the library for his coworkers and library visitors. He was very blessed with you his family who he loved to talk about. He brought that joy in life with him to work and I’m guessing everywhere he went in life. Wishing you his family peace and happy memories.
Joni and I send our condolences. May Kenny rest in peace.
Although my husband and I never had the joy of meeting Ken in person, we feel we “know” him through his dear son Mike, who developed his close relationship with our son James while attending Purdue. Even today they remain closest friends (Mike is also our granddaughter’s godfather. ❤️)! My husband and I extend our sincerest sympathies to the entire Vesperman family; you all are in our prayers for God’s abundant grace and His peace that passes all understanding.
Our sincerest condolences, Robin. May you find strength in the memories shared through your many years together.
