Mary Kathryn Mayham

Mary Kathryn (Cole) Mayham, age 85 of Clarendon Hills, IL passed away surrounded by her family on March 14, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her loving parents, William Theophilus (W.T.) Cole, Sr., and Ollie Cole, her brother, W.T. Cole, Jr., and her husband, Gerald Mayham.  She leaves behind her two daughters, Suzanne Causer (Rob) of Aurora, CO, and Jennifer Dunleavy (Kevin) of Western Springs, IL, grandchildren Olivia Causer, and Patrick, John and Colin Dunleavy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was a Texas native, growing up in the small panhandle town of Lefors where she graduated first in her class.  She was a talented musician, playing the piano and organ for her church in Lefors, and instilling her love of music in both of her daughters.   She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in accounting, and many friends whom she would keep for her lifetime.  While working for the IRS in Amarillo, Mary met and married the love of her life, Jerry.  Together they ventured to Anchorage, Alaska with the U.S. Air Force, and eventually relocated to Colorado Springs and later to Littleton, Colorado, which she called home for 40 years.  She continued her accounting career, delighted in spending time with her family and friends, and treasured the beautiful mountain views and endless Colorado sunshine.  She loved playing with her grandchildren and was a superfan at their soccer and basketball games and music performances. Mary was especially fond of her grand dogs and never met a dog she did not love. Her retirement brought her to Illinois where she could spend more time with her young grandsons.

Mary was loved and cherished dearly by her family and friends.  She had a gentle and kind soul and will be remembered for her compassion, hard work, and the gifts of her time and love that she bestowed on all of those who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church of Western Springs at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
