Lawrence Michael Burda

Lawrence Michael Burda; age 76, of Western Springs; beloved husband of Joanne (née Raineri); loving father of Kristin (Matt) Tobin of Western Springs & Lisa (Doug) Kramer of Hinsdale; proud grandfather of Matthew, Sarah, John, & William Tobin and Douglas, Daniel, & Caroline Kramer; dear brother of Richard (Laurie) Burda & Sharon (Tim) Harlow; dear uncle & friend of many.

Larry, as his friends knew him, dedicated his life to family, sports, and education. He spent his professional career as a High School Administrator at Argo High School, District 217; a baseball and football coach; and a basketball referee.  His greatest joy was traveling with his family, cheering on his daughters’ and grandchildren’s many sports teams, and coaching young people to achieve their goals. We pray that he is standing in a pool, reading a book, and drinking a Pepsi with the sun on his face while he continues to guide our futures.

Memorial donations in Larry’s name to the Economic Awareness Council (econcouncil.org) are appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are private, and entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. (708) 352-6500

  1. Joanne, Kristin, and Lisa my prayers are with you and your families. Larry was a special person. From his teacher days, to the swimming teams and Dr Pepper club meets, to the pizza parties, he always had a smile and a warm handshake. Yes he could be serious but then the smile lines would appear. I constantly would ask about him ( and you folks) to my kids. Your family was special , and he made it so.
Remember the good things he in your grieving process.

  2. Joanne, my heart breaks for your family. Larry will always have a place in my heart as a straightforward, honorable and loving cousin, who could give a slight shake his head that told me enough was enough. I so loved that about him. Truly a good man. I know he will be missed dearly, but I also know he will always be with you and the kids. Hugs and so much love to you and the family.
