Edward Wieczorek

Edward Wieczorek, age 95, of Oak Brook, formerly of Countryside, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Beloved husband of Dolores; loving father of Cheryl (friend Arthur Shimkus), Melanie (the late Robert) Einhorn and Leslie (Jeff) Corcoran; cherished grandfather of Sabrina and Victoria Einhorn, Brady Corcoran and Devan (Austin) Chandler; fond uncle and friend of many.

Edward was born in 1929, the youngest of 3 siblings in Chicago.  He attended St. Mel’s School and received an Associates Degree from Morton Jr. College.  After Morton College, he went into the Army, was sent to Germany and was in the Coding/Communication division for 2 years.  Later, during his employment at Amphenol, he took a business course and became a supervisor in Production Control.  He was also part of the bowling team at Amphenol.

Amphenol was where he met his wife, Dolores of 65 years.  They dated a little over a year when they married in 1959.  The couple had 3 children and took family trips together across country.

Throughout his life, Ed enjoyed taking long walks, reading, doing crossword puzzles and taking care of the home and garden.

After retirement, Ed and Dolores enjoyed traveling around the world.  They visited China, Germany, Italy, England, Ireland, Isreal, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Hungary and Poland.  Closer to home, they also visited Hawaii and Alaska.

When they weren’t traveling, they enjoyed being part of a local Square Dance Club.  They also visited with family and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, donations to American Heart Association are greatly appreciated.

Visitation 8:30am until time of chapel prayers, 9:30am on Thursday, March 27th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside. A 10am Funeral Mass will follow at St. Cletus Parish, La Grange. Interment will take place at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Stickney.
