William “Bill” D. Serpico

Our beloved William “Bill” D. Serpico passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

He spent 14 wonderful years with his loving wife, Deanna (Smith) Serpico. Together they built a beautiful life enjoying cooking, traveling, and gardening.

Bill was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his generous heart, sense of humor, his uncanny ability to connect with people leaving a lasting impression and of course his sense of style.

Bill is a graduate of University of Wisconsin earning  a bachelor and master degrees.  He graduated from DePaul University Law School and was a long-standing member of both the Federal and State Bar Associations.  He was the founding member of a prestigious Chicago law firm from which he recently retired.  He devoted his legal career to helping clients with

Matrimonial matters and he was highly respected in his field.   He was a mentor and friend to many generations of young attorneys and was instrumental in their careers.

He is survived by his wife Deanna (Smith) Serpico, his cherished sisters Dolores “Chickie” Smuskiewicz (the late Lawrence), Anita Cornelison (the late James), and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased in death by his sister, Camille Serpico, his brothers the late Charles (Patricia) Serpico, the late Joseph J (Loretta) Serpico, his late wife Suzanne Serpico, his parents, Andrew and Anna (DeRose) Serpico.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are greatly appreciated.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9am until time of Memorial Mass, 10am, on April 26th at St. Cletus Parish, 600 W. 55th St., Countryside.

Private Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Hallowell & James Funeral Home will oversee all service arrangements.

  1. To My “Unkie Bill” We met over 30 years ago at the very worst chapter of my life as a client. We quickly changed that to a lasting freindship that I cherished each and every day. His guidience and love for me and my family will be with us for the rest of our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this most difficult time. I will truly miss “Unkie Bill ” We have all been Blessed to know him, love him, and to share our lives with him, Love Steve
