Kathleen “Kay” Takash

Kathleen (“Kay”) Takash, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2020. Kay is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Joseph Takash. She was a devoted mother to Terrence, Timothy, Joseph Takash, and Holly (Takash) Lopez. Kay worshiped her grandchildren, Brendan, Clare, Erin, Kerry, Willy, Maggie, Lily and Tony, and was a loving mother-in-law to Marichris, Sue, Sarah and Sebert. Daughter of her loving mother Helen Zahorik. Kay is the beloved sister of John, Robert and Edward Zahorik. Devoted to too many nieces and nephews to count, Aunt Kay will be missed by each of them. A lover of life, people and fun, Kay has way too many friends to count. Her laughter and love will be missed by all. Due to current health restrictions, a private ceremony will be held by immediate family on Wednesday, June 16th at 1:00pm, with a live stream link available here on her obituary right at 12:50pm. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Kay’s life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

  2. What a wonderful woman. I never saw her without a smile. She welcomed all and I always felt better being around her. Heartfelt condolences to Joe senior and the entire Takash family. I am thankful for knowing Kay, and more so, for the tremendous joy she added to the world by being in it. I smile knowing that her gift of joy continues through her amazing family she so generously shared with us all.

    As we gather to celebrate your wonderful life we ask that you look down upon us from heaven and bless all of us to try get through this difficult day. We know that you are in eternal peace right now but so many of us who love and miss you back home need your grace to help us through. So we ask that you come into our hearts and souls during this time and help wipe away tears of sadness and replace them with tears of joy in our knowing where you are now in your new life with God and where we will all be able to join you one day when we are called.

    Her love, kidness, compassion, and friendship were truly a special gift in our lives.
    Kay, may have passed on to the big celebration in the sky but, having our memories of her makes her eternal in our hearts.

  7. The Barnard family of Aurelio’s of LaGrange is deeply saddened by the passing of Kay. She was a favorite, along with her faithful sidekick Joe, at our restaurant. She would sit and bask in the glow of her family, always listening to them and smiling all the while. She was content. What a great lady and what a great family she created.
