Lillian “Lil” Zaggy

Lillian “Lil” Zaggy, age 94, of Western Springs, IL passed away on June 10, 2020.  Lil was a proud, longtime resident of Western Springs and an active parishioner of St. John of the Cross Church. Beloved wife of the late Theodore “Ted” Zaggy; loving mother of son Alan (Maryann), daughters Andrea (Craig) Abbott, and Kyla Zaggy; cherished grandchildren, Evan (Amy), Aaron, Matthew, Anamaria Zaggy, Douglas (Anne), Michael Abbott, and Mylo Zaggy; also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents John and Emma Duras of Joliet, dear sister Jackie (the late Josh) Vollmer and her aunt Jeanette (the late James) Corcoran. Raised in Joliet, Lillian traveled to various locations throughout the U.S. with Ted during his service as a Naval Officer. Once they settled permanently in Illinois, she devoted herself to raising her children. Lil was active in the Western Springs Garden Club, the Questers Group, and the Village Club of Western Springs as well as being active in her children’s school activities and interests. She was an excellent seamstress, loved to dance, travel, entertain and enjoyed the many friendships that were nurtured for decades.  She was especially honored to volunteer for over 30 years at the LaGrange Hospital. Lil provided the glue in her extended family, reveling in sharing family memories until her final days. A private burial will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. A Mass Remembrance will be held at a later date at St. John of the Cross Parish, Western Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lillian’s honor to the American Heart Association.
