Johanna Wilhemina Leenheers, 88, of Western Springs, IL, late of Flower Mound, TX. Born and raised in Waalwijk, The Netherlands. Johanna emigrated to the US in 1956 with her husband Gerard. They raised their children, Gerry (Karen), Caroline (Kirk Massner), and Tracey (Burt Eaton) in Western Springs, IL. Though most proud of her family, Johanna was an accomplished but humble seamstress and gardener. Following Gerard’s death in 1982, she worked at a local physician’s office, then at Superior Bank of Countryside, IL. Upon retiring, she became a “professional Oma” to her beloved grandchildren, Ellen (James Kelly), Pete (Kaitlyn), and Annie Leenheers; Kyler (Taylor), Kody, and Kace Massner; Hanna, Maggie and James Ralston and Katherine Worthen, as well as great-grandchildren Kasch Massner, JoBelle and Hughes Leenheers, and Poppy Kelly. In addition, Johanna leaves behind her 3 younger siblings and extended family in The Netherlands.
Johanna was a devoted friend and “everyone’s Oma” to people who knew her. Though heartbroken, her family will strive to continue her legacy of extraordinary kindness, gracious hospitality, faith in God and resilience in difficult times.
