Bernard Gerard Walsh 

November 21, 1944 – February 20, 2021

Bernard G. Walsh, age 76, passed away in LaGrange Park, IL on February 20, 2021 at Presence Bethlehem Woods Assisted Living.  He was born in Rockville Centre, NY to Bernard and Helen Walsh. Bernie’s first bride was Susan Woodin Walsh his second was Ailiene Wenhardt Walsh. Father to Catherine Jean Walsh (1971-93), Robin (Chris) Bourjaily, Sarah (Christopher) Shea, Marie Lin Walsh; grandfather to Brady, Elizabeth, Kellin, Charlotte, Maren; brother to Jeanne Waller (Walsh) uncle to Adam G. Waller, cousin and great friend to many. 

Bernie was a proud graduate of  St. Agnes High School in Rockville Centre, New York, where he starred as an athlete in both football, and track.  Bernie attended  St. Bonaventure College in Hamlet, New York and later earned a Master’s in Criminal Justice from Central Michigan.   

A military veteran, Bernie served a tour in Vietnam on behalf of the Army. After Bernie completed his military service, he continued to serve his country as an FBI agent from 1969-1995. Bernie then decided to give back and share his extensive knowledge and experiences with the students of Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York as a professor in criminal justice. 

Bernie loved talking politics and baseball, and though he rooted for the Mets, Bernie’s true love lay with the old New York Giants and the hallowed fields of the Polo Grounds. Bernie was excited to see his beloved Buffalo Bills experience a resurgence and even co-authored a book about the varied baseball fields of New York. Bernie was a true sports fan, a true New Yorker and he will be truly missed. 

A memorial service will be held on Long Island in New York in late July, 2021.

  3. Oh no I learned quickly not to discuss politics with Bernie. I couldn’t get a word in. He was very knowledgeable and held a great conversation. Baseball, baseball and more baseball he talked. He loved and missed

  5. RIP Bernie. Your passing has saddened all of us who knew you, especially those of us who grew up in the same RVC neighborhood. So many memories. You will be be missed by all the “Hale’s”.✝️
