Maureen “Molly” Lee

Maureen “Molly” M. Lee, age 33, of Chicago, on 30 April 2021; beloved wife of Brandon Rios; cherished daughter of Jeffrey & Ann (Hullihan) Lee; loving sister of Jesse and Dora; esteemed daughter-in-law of David and Kim Rios; darling grand-daughter of the late Edward & Doris Hullihan, Clarise Fischer and Robert Lee; dear niece, cousin, aunt and friend to so, so many.

Molly was born on Valentine’s Day 1988 and raised in Oak Park and La Grange Park. Born with a congenital heart defect and undergoing several surgeries in childhood, Molly never let this hold her back or dampen her cheerful disposition.  During one hospitalization, her brother Jesse gave Molly a stuffed monkey dubbed “Chatsworth”.  A very mischievous and irreverent animal, Chatsworth became Molly’s alter ego and provided many hours of entertainment to all who knew him.   Always a ringleader and life-of-the-party, Molly loved and participated in the arts and culture but, most of all, she connected with people. Her verve, wit and whimsy were her supreme gifts to us.

While attending DePaul University, Molly interned at Intuit Museum and Dairy Management Association.  After earning an MS in Library & Information Science from the University of Illinois, Molly worked as a researcher at IIT, James Drury Partners and, most recently, Bain Associates, where she received the “Bainie Award”. To quote one of her colleagues, “Molly truly embodies all the best qualities you’d want in both a teammate and friend. She’s incredibly supportive, brings enthusiasm and energy to even the dullest of tasks, and is constantly working to make sure everyone feels connected and engaged. Her creativity and silly jokes are a breath of fresh air when a lot of us need it the most.”  Her unexpected passing leaves a great void in the lives of her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held with Molly’s family and friends at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to https://GiveWell.org or NAACP Legal Defense Fund in Molly’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. Info: (708) 352-6500.
