Edward August Carlson, 63, passed into the arms of God on May 12, 2021 after a brief illness. Edward was ordained a priest in 1983 and served the Archdiocese of Chicago for 27 years. Later, he married Shirley Bacus and pursued his passions as a master carpenter and builder. Ed was a kind and gentle soul who possessed a wonderful dry sense of humor and will be missed by all. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Edward E. and Eileen Cullen Carlson. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley, his 4 sisters Mary (Gerard) Harper, Ellen (Thomas) Olson, Peggy (Mark) Grogan, and Nancy (Seamus) Byrne, nieces and nephews: Joseph, Caitlin, and Patrick Harper; Elizabeth, Thomas, and Nora Olson, Eileen and Patrick Grogan, and Anna Byrne; and two stepsons Kevin (Katie) and Patrick (Erin) Mulligan.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Friday, May 21 at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs. All those attending must register at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0948a8af28abf58-edward1. Please arrive at church by 10:45am to be checked in and seated.
