Thomas “Tom” R. Hanna

Thomas “Tom” R. Hanna, 84, of La Grange IL, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021.  Tom was born on April 8, 1937 in Berwyn IL. He was the son of Thomas and Gladys (nee Rossman) Hanna of LaGrange Park, IL.  Tom was a wise, patient, and dependable man who lived with a calm, casual perspective on life.  He will be remembered for his witty humor and kind nature. Tom was a United States Army Veteran and spent his entire career in the printing industry. He had a passion for vegetable gardening often sharing the fruits of his labor with his family and friends.  Tom’s favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch, with his dog, socializing with the neighbors who dubbed him the “Mayor” of the block.  Tom is survived by his wife Alice (nee Twomey), his five children; Beth Hanna, Tom (Jill) Hanna, Mark (Carolyn) Hanna, Kathleen (Peter) Lopez, and Tim (Kristie) Hanna along with his grandchildren; Ashley, Katherine, Nick, Emma, Joshua, Megan, Sara, Kyle, Alex, Ryan, Stephanie, Hailey, Daniel, and Matthew as well as eight great-grandchildren and his dog Kerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jim and William Hanna, and a sister Donna Nabor.

Memorial Visitation 5 to 8pm Tuesday, May 25th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends are to meet Wednesday, May 26th at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., La Grange for 11:15am Mass. All guests must register for Mass at https://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23676d90ea0c3e5c71-funerals. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in and be seated. Masks required. Mass will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/stcletusparish. Family and friends are then invited to meet at the Cemetery Office of Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd., Hillside for 1:00pm Committal Prayers and Military Honors.

    of Tom. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I will keep him and all of you in my prayers. God bless Tom and all of you.

  2. Alice, Paul and I just heard about Tom’s passing yesterday, through some friends in La Grange. We are so sad to hear, but will keep you Alice and your family in our thought and prayers. He really was a great human and the mayor of our block! We don’t get back to La Grange, but we think of all of you often. Love and Prayers,
