Edward M. Mize “Eddie”
Edward M. Mize (“Eddie”) passed from this life on March 5, 2022, peacefully at home in Oak Brook, Illinois. He was born Edmund Marion Misiewicz on April 23, 1922 – missing his 100th birthday by a mere seven weeks. His beloved wife Maryann R. Mize (ne Piecha) predeceased him in 2010. They raised four children: Gregory Mize (Marisa Giedt Mize) of Washington DC; Kevin Mize (Michelle Frey Mize) of Denver CO; Michele Mize of Western Springs IL; and John Mize (deceased in 2021). He was the proud and supportive grandfather of Criston Mize (Amina Copeland Mize), Jasmin Mize, Justine Mize Fortkiewicz (Kevin Fortkiewicz), Jamie Mize, Charlee Mize, Lukas Mize, Elle Mize and great grandfather of Casimir Mize and Owen Fortkiewicz. During their later years, Edward and Maryann were blessed with the kind and loving care of a team of guardian angels led by Elena Alisauliene. He proved himself to be a smart and careful businessman – rising from being an accountant at Chicago Avenue Motors Sales in the 1950s to ownership of several highly successful new car dealerships. Edward proudly served as a Radar Technician in the US Navy during WW2 and graduated from DePaul University. He was a very enthusiastic Chicago Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks fan, avid golfer, and connoisseur of fine wines, all while maintaining his impeccable sense of style. Meeting living legend and jazz great Dave Brubeck was a fond memory. A private Mass of Sacred Burial will take place with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities.
