Alice Katzmarek, age 93, long-time resident of Hodgkins, has been reunited with her late husband Abe. Loving mother of the late Ann (Ed) Reiser, the late Linda (Rich) Bagal, Susan (Dan) Katzmarek, Leo Katzmarek and Tony (Tracy) Katzmarek. Abe and Alice moved from Chicago to Hodgkins in 1960. They quickly became active members of the community. Abe was secretary for the volunteer fire department, Alice volunteered her time working at the polls. Alice also began a career working at the Hodgkins Village Hall starting February 15,1973 she became deputy clerk on May 24, 1988 and retired March 31,1994. After retiring she loved to volunteer her time reading to the young children in the village. She was an active member of the senior groups Leisure loafers and aging well.
Alice was a devout catholic and member of the St. Cletus parish. She loved to help out and was proud to tell people that she really had a key to the church.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Village of Hodgkins whom she thought of as her second family, the Village of Hodgkins police department for keeping a careful watch on her and the Pleasantview fire department for their gentle care transporting mom to the hospital on several occasions. There truly are no words to express how much it meant to us.
Mom really gave life a run for its money and deserves her place in heaven.

Alice was a joy to be around. We were buddies at St. Cletus for the last 30 years. I remember buying stamps at the village hall from her when I was a kid. She will be missed and remembered. Prayers and hugs to her family.

My deepest condolences to your family great memories growing up together
Thank you Nick, our families go back to when Saban’s was just a home. I remember when the restaurant/bar was just a yard to play in.
Alice was a long time reading friend at Hodgkins School. The students adored her and she always came to school with a smile. I will miss her dearly as will the many students and staff she held dear.
Alice was an amazing lady-always cheerful and dedicated to helping others – in the community and in the parish she loved. Even when she was not in the best of health, she faithfully attended Mass and made sure the vigil light candles were replenished. She never complained and always had a witty reply when asked about herself and was more interested in others. She was definitely ” a woman of worth…” as described in Scripture. You’re home at last, Alice.
A smile for everyone is what I remember most of Alice. So much kindness and respect for everyone. Leo I know what it feels like to lose your mom and I hope these beautiful memories of her help you and your family get thru this.
All that mom did, day in and day out, I took for granted not realizing the effect it had on so many people. She will forever be missed, but will always be alive in our hearts. Thank you Lida, and thank all of you who have shared their thoughts with us.
Thank you everyone for sharing a memory or loving thought. We always thought she was special but never realized how many friends she had. Bless you all.
Alice’s kids.
Payers to the family. When I would see her out and about, I would say to her, it was so good to see you. She would say, it’s good to be seen! I loved her. God’s peace Alice. Tony, I’m on vacation in Florida. Sorry I missed paying my respect to the family.
