It is with great sorrow that the family of Eloyse Bingham Lyons, 96, of La Grange and San Diego, announces her peaceful passing on April 25, 2022, in her home with family around her. Eloyse was born in Ogden, Utah to Elliot and Doris (Tribe) Bingham, went to high school in Idaho, college in Washington, and met the love of her life in Logan, Utah. Joseph William Lyons was an Army officer who offered to show her the world. They spent the next 18 years living in Europe, Asia, and various places in the US while raising four children. These years, immersed in the culture of each location, fueled her lifelong love of travel.
Settling in La Grange in 1965 she found great joy in the life of the local community as well as the wealth of cultural opportunities Chicago offered. She was a longtime member of Infant Welfare Society and the Garden Club of La Grange, a subscriber to the Lyric Opera of Chicago and never missed a new exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. But her life’s passion was in creating “home” for her family and her family of friends, where everyone felt cherished and honored for who and what they chose to be. She loved to entertain for large and small groups of friends from near and far, for a meal or for a month. She offered gourmet meals, French wines and encouraged lively conversation. She and Joe enjoyed taking groups of grandchildren to plays, museums and long trips in Europe. Eloyse, of indomitable spirit, always forward looking, friend to all who knew her, adored by her family, will forever be an inspiration.
She was predeceased by Joseph in 2008; daughter, Christine Fay, 2010; sister, Bonnie Clawson, 2016. She is survived by daughters Stephanie Stewart (Jeffrey), Lexie Lyons-Hegrenes (Scott) and son, Michael (Mary Tackbury); grandchildren Nicole Lyons Griffiths, Christopher Lyons (Pip), Megan Stewart Hodge (Jeffrey), Cameron Stewart (Annie), Lindsey Lyons (Frank Wawrzyniak), Michelle Fay, Joseph Fay, Jennifer Fay (Katie), Elliot Lyons (fiancée, Brandy), Margo Lyons, Leilagh Boyle, Shannon Boyle-Youssefi (Joshua); step grandchildren, Lauren Tackbury and Hope Tackbury Baer (Frank); and great-grandchildren, Tevin, Bentley, Sydney, Brianna, Braden, Clementine, Shea, Julia, Ava and step-great Grandchild, Gunner.
