William W. Rausch, age 80, of Woodridge. Beloved husband of Sandra, nee Uhlir, for 56 years. Loving father of Pamela (Scott) Prescott and William (Melissa) Rausch. Devoted grandfather of Anthony, Ryan and Julie Prescott, Danielle, Billy and Katie Rausch. William was born in New Orleans, LA in 1943 to the late William Rausch and the late Evelyn, nee Peters. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Keehnast and his brother Robert Rausch. William retired as an employee for the City of Naperville. Visitation 3-9 p.m. Friday March 3, 2023 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Interment private. My condolences to the Rausch Family on the passing of a sincere, honest and humorous man.
The Popek Family got to know the Rausch Family when “Billy” or his nickname “Hi-Guy” worked at Popek’s Flower Shop at the intersection of Highland Ave and 26th St way back in the 60’s.
Frequently, my brother or I would go on deliveries with Billy. I recall on one such run, I was eating a candy bar and threw the wrapper on the floor of the van. He scolded me and told me to “pick up that crap”. That was the first time I ever heard that word and thought it was a “bad word”.
