Judith “Judy” Gusland, age 90, a resident of the LaGrange area for over 50 years passed away Friday, May 19, 2023. Beloved wife of the late James Gusland; loving mother of Mark (Debi), Peter (Lori), and Alicia (Tom Goz) Steinhagen; dear stepmother of Erica (Bryan) Sunday, and Crist Gusland; loved grandmother of Wendi (David) Svitak; fond great-grandmother of Violet and Jack; sister of the late John (late Geri) Vanek, the late Alicia (late Frank) Fencl, and David Vanek. Family and friends to meet on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Church, LaGrange. Funeral Mass 10am. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Mrs. Gusland, Judy, was a huge light at Plymouth Place. I will never forget how she always made it daily stop to share a friendly smile and a hello with me. Even as her memory continued to fade she always would make that stop, she didn’t know how much those visits meant to me, and to share a moment of her thoughts and kindness. Such a lovely lady, I am so honored to have had the opportunity in my work career at Plymouth to have known such a person. She will be sitting at a different feast as she is awaited by many that went before her. Keep smiling Judy! You will be in our hearts! My sympathies to the family and friends, may the good Lord guide you in comfort on this new Journey you face.
She was a great, great person – so smart and capable. When I was a novice teacher, she helped me so much with her wise understanding. She caused no problems for anyone, but tried to help all even when they might not deserve it. One of the classiest people I ever met.
I did not know Judy passed until today. What a bright light she was! We met on the golf course and she was a joy to spend time with.
