Zwaantina (Tina) Gerdina Maas Galvin of LaGrange, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023.  She was 83 years old. Tina was born in Tjimahi, Indonesia on April 21, 1940 to the late John and Dien Maas.

In 1950 her family returned to their hometown of Almelo, Netherlands, and in 1957 they immigrated to the United States when Tina was 16 years old. Tina was a giving person with a big heart and always put others’ needs in front of her own. She spent much of her life providing for her family. She will be greatly missed.

Tina is preceded in death by her parents: John and Dien Maas, her sister Ellen, and son Jeffrey.  She is survived by her husband Patrick, three children: Patrick, Tracy, and James, siblings: Peter, Martin, Leo, John, and Margaret,  7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a number of loving relatives and friends.

A wake will be held for her on Tuesday, Sept. 5th from 5 – 8 PM at Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside.  A graveside burial service will be held at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien on Wednesday, Sept. 6th at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to participate in the funeral procession will meet at Hallowell & James in Countryside at 10:15 AM.  Alternatively, people may park in the cemetery office parking lot and wait for the cemetery director to lead the group to the gravesite.
