In Loving Memory of Michael A. Merony
Michael A. Merony, 76, of Western Springs, Illinois, passed away on November 5, 2023. Born to Joseph and Elenor Merony on November 18, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Michael touched the lives of many. Michael’s journey began at Wayne State University, where he earned a degree that paved the way for a successful career in banking. He dedicated his professional life to institutions including the National Bank of Detroit, First Chicago, and JP Morgan Chase. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a passion for Chicago sports and was a connoisseur of things he loved the most, he savored the moments spent enjoying a good cigar and a beer. However, above all else, Michael cherished his role as a grandfather. He reveled in the laughter, stories, and accomplishments with his twelve grandchildren: Taylor, MaKalya, Jenna, Nathan, Trevor, Luke, Grace, Paige, Delaney, Addison, Theodore, and Madelyn and one great grandchild, Ryleigh. His eyes lit up with pride and affection whenever he was in their presence.
Michael is survived by his wife, Linda, and his six children, Matt (Kathy) Merony, Michelle (Dave) Marus, Kim (Steven) Schaefer, Scott Merony, Megan Merony, and Kristin (Shaun) Sleeper. While Michael’s departure from this world came far too soon, his memories and love will live on in our hearts. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
Michael’s family will be hosting a celebration of his life this summer in Detroit, Michigan, where friends, family, and his newest grandchild, will gather to honor his memory and share stories that made his life so extraordinary.
