Alice Rhoads
In loving memory of our mother, Alice Rhoads, née Bican, who passed away on November 30 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Devoted wife to the late Gurrie Rhoads and cherished mother of Robert (Megan)Welsch, Lori (Tim) Gibson, Lisa Julien and Tom Welsch; beloved step-mother to Cyndi, Geoff, Laura and Bryan Rhoads; loving sister to Janice (Hank) Gaydos, the late Joseph Bican, Jr. and preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and Joseph Bican. Loving grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her family and friends are left to treasure a legacy of precious memories.
Alice grew up in Chicago IL, lovingly raised her four children in Hickory Hills, and moved to Western Springs where she resided for over 25 years. Alice was accomplished: graduated high school one year early, raised her family as a young mother and continued to learn and grow and excelled in everything she took on with the most positive attitude. A cherished friend to all who knew her, she had a remarkable way to make one feel so loved. Rest peacefully, Alice you are fiercely loved and will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation at St John of the Cross Catholic Church, 5005 Wolf Rd. Western Springs from 10am until time of Mass 11 am Thursday, 12/07.

Alice and I have been friends since high school, and she has always been such a kind, caring, and thoughtful friend. She has coached me with parenting, cooking and baking, and numerous life experiences. We enjoyed many parties, lunches, dinners, and conversations throughout the years. I am grateful for our long friendship and priceless memories with Alice and her loving family. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Much love from Janet Bell
Joyce and I had the pleasure of meeting Alice shortly after we moved in to the Commonwealth in the Village in 1998. She was a charming woman. May Christ’s peace be with her and her loved ones.
I have known Alice for over 45 years. She was a loving mother to my dear friend Lori and all of her children. She looked after us so well, keeping us on the straight and narrow in our teenage years.
She was a beautiful person, both inside and out and I hope she is now at peace.
