Ed was born in Green Bay and grew up in Shawano, WI where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, and played a variety of sports at Shawano High School. His talent led to a three sport, athletic career at Lawrence University, where he lettered in football, basketball and tennis, prompting an induction into the Hall of Fame at both Shawano High School and Lawrence University. Ed enjoyed a lucrative career in the insurance industry, leading to the opening of the Davis-Grosse agency. He was a pioneer in the innovation of insurance products and services for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association.
Ed cherished his time in Phelps, WI at his beautiful cabin on Long Lake. Summers were spent golfing, fishing, waterskiing and playing tennis. His love of Wisconsin supper clubs led to many fun, colorful dinners with family and friends, all were welcome!

Ed earned the respect of the entire orthotic and prosthetic profession as thee most trusted advisor for small business insurance coverage throughout the USA. I connected with Ed, first through Scheck & Siress in the 1980’s, then with Sara and Dan at SJC with his grandson Scott and our son, Mark, good friends. Son, Matt was in Molly’s class at SJC also. Scott vacationed with us at Sea Side FL on Easter breaks. Ed was always there supporting the kids in their activities. Ed is a true “gentle” man and recognized for his big smile and handshake.
