Robert “Bob” Petrik, 88, a lifelong resident of Lyons, IL passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia (nee Vogt), as well as his parents, Joseph and Ella Petrik, and his brother, Gerald Petrik.
Bob was a wonderful father and is survived by his adoring children, Jeffrey, Mari Anne (Thomas) LaFleur, and Dawn (Joseph) Mase. He cherished his 8 grandchildren, Cassandra, Julianne, Ryan, Joshua, Joseph, Cecelia, Anna, and Anthony, his 3 great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Macsen, and Ellis, his sister-in-law, Joan (Gerald) Petrik, and cousin, Jill Geschke. He was a caring uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Bob was a proud United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1955 to 1957. He returned home and worked for Reynolds Metals Co. until his retirement.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his faith, his kindness, his generosity, and his service to his country. He loved his life, his home, building and fixing much of it with his own hands, the Chain-O-Lakes, boating, especially Chris-Craft wooden boats, and his dogs. While our hearts are broken, and we will miss him dearly, we find comfort knowing that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Patricia. May he rest in peace.
