Norman Tiedt, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 11, 2024. Norman, also known as Mickey, was born and raised in Tiedtville, Illinois, a small farming community outside of Chicago. He started working at a young age picking crops, setting pins at the bowling alley and caddying at the local Country Club. He worked hard his entire life; ultimately, starting a trucking company and then lastly, developing real estate. Norman was a lifelong devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Norman served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He loved spending time in Lake Geneva, Fort Myers Beach, and the Northwoods of Wisconsin. He also took many, many trips to Hilton Head Island.
Norman had many talents. Including being an all-round athlete. He was excellent at golf, hockey, bowling and baseball. He loved to fish and would enter musky tournaments with his wife Patricia in the Northwoods. Boating, snowmobiling and photography were also passions of his. And he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds later in life. He enjoyed a good laugh with friends and loved to spend time with his family. He was known for Norm’s Killer Margaritas as well as his homegrown tomatoes.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Viola, his sister, Aileen, and his wife Patricia. He is the father of Nancy, Susan and Kent. Proud Papa to Elle, Eddie (Madison) and Carly. Great grandfather to Regan. Brother of William and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund as a way to preserve Norman’s heritage. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home at 630/964-6500 or www.hjfunerals.com
