Joanna Kozuch

Joanna Kozuch, 1940 – 2024. Beloved daughter of the late Josephine (nee Koziol) and the late Joseph Kozuch; cherished sister of Patricia Zezulak, the late Mary Raftery, and Robert Kozuch, and sister-in-law of the late George Zezulak and the late John Raftery. Beloved Aunt, Great-Aunt, and Great-Great-Aunt, to countless family members, each of which fondly recalls being referred to by Aunt Joanny as “Hon,” short for Honey.

Joanna grew up on the south side of Chicago, where the Kozuch family was a member of St. Adalbert’s Church. After attending grade school there, Joanna studied at St. Ann High School, before moving on to Mundelein College. Joanna was the first in her family to graduate from college. Joanna studied to be a dietitian; this would be her career, helping others to stay nourished throughout their hospital stay, until she deservedly retired.

Joanna loved to travel. She travelled around the world, including to Mexico, Canada, and throughout Europe. She traveled around the US frequently, to Massachusetts and Hawaii, and seemingly everywhere in between. She was an avid reader with an extensive book collection. She loved music, especially the symphony. Joanna stayed active, and had a love for biking in particular with her brother and best friend Robert.

Professionally and more over personally, few people have enriched the lives of as many family members and friends as Joanna. She is remembered as ever supportive and giving – snacks, meals, hospitality, gifts, rides, advice, friendship, companionship, hugs – always smiling, always loving, always appreciating life with limitless generosity.

Visitation Friday, June 28 from 10:30am until time of Mass, 11:30am at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 5300 S. Natoma Ave., Chicago, IL. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Funeral Info: 708-352-6500.
