Patrick Joseph Doyle, Jr., born October 1, 1937 in Chicago Illinois, passed away on June 25, 2024.

Loving husband of Arlene (nee Cullinan) Doyle from 1993 to present, and the late Mary Ann (nee McAteer) Doyle 1960 to 1989: dearest father of Patrick (Kathy) Doyle, Maureen (Jeff) Toner, Michael (Mary) Doyle, Timothy (Katy) Doyle, Sheila (Dan) Tully, Kevin (Lisa) Doyle, Brian (Cara) Doyle; fond stepfather of Rick (Layla) Schuld, Peggy (John) Thodos, Dan (Peggy) Schuld, Laurie (Andy) Tippet, Joy Schuld and the late Tim Schuld; treasured brother to Mary Furcich (the late Frank), Alice Sparks (the late Leon) and Tom (Louise) Doyle; caring brother-in-law of Owen McAteer (Rosalie), the late Jim McAteer (Kathy), Pat (Andy) Strelec and the late Jim (Kathy) Cullinan.

Pat and Mary Ann leave a legacy through their 30 grandchildren: Kelly, Erin, Patrick, Sean, Molly, Colleen (Luke), Jack, Mick, Colin, Annie (John), Bridget (Taylor), Sheila, Kathleen, Meghan, Brian, Clare, Amy, Matt, Mae, Emmett, Terese, Maggie, Kevin, Kate, Caroline, Luke, Mac, Frankie, Alice, and Joe. And five great grandchildren: Johnny, Tommy, Billy, Francie and Lucy.  Pat also departs from his many dear nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Patrick J. Doyle Sr. from Ballymurphy, County Carlow, Ireland, and his mother, Alice (nee Cunningham) Doyle from Leitrum, County Down, Northern Ireland. Pat always held his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Ireland close to his heart and made it a priority to proudly share his Irish heritage with his family.

Patrick grew up in Little Flower parish, attended Leo High School, earned an engineering degree at Saint Norbert’s College and Marquette University and received his MBA from the University of Chicago. Pat proudly served in the United States Army and then built his career at People’s Gas Company from 1964 until his retirement in 1996 – working his way up from an engineer to Senior Vice President, always sharing his appreciation and respect for the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Company’s street crews and shops.

He and his wife Mary Ann raised their seven children (all born between 1961 and 1969) on Stone Avenue in LaGrange Park.  Together they created a lifetime of memories and established a family legacy rooted in fun, faith, hard work, and caring for one another.  After Mary Ann’s early death, Pat found a wonderful companion in Arlene.  They together enjoyed many years in LaGrange and Florida filled with travel, bridge, family and friends.

Pat was a cherished member of the LaGrange community, the handiest of handymen, a voracious reader, an avid golfer, bowler and card player at LaGrange Country Club and an active parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Parish for over 50 years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, June 29, at St. Francis Xavier, 124 N. Spring Ave, LaGrange, IL. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., Alsip, IL.
