Casimer M. Ragus, of Chicago, passed away on December 19, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Halina (née Walinska) of 69 years; loving father of George (Lori) & Elizabeth (William) Buhrmaster; cherished grandfather of Christine (Ryan) Reniff, Carolyn (Scott) Gessner, Daniel Ragus, Michelle (Peter) Mataragas, & Julia Ragus; great-grandfather of Maya & Henry; dear uncle and friend of many.
A man of exceptional skill and patience, Casimer was a natural handyman who approached every project with care and took immense pride in creating a comfortable life for his family. He found his greatest joy in tending to his beloved vegetable garden, savoring the serenity of ice fishing, and cherishing time with his loved ones. Known for his delightful sense of silliness, Casimer’s easygoing nature, tireless work ethic, and boundless generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. A true friend to all, his life was a testament to a heart open to others and a spirit that celebrated life’s simplest pleasures.
Visitation 10am until time of Funeral Mass, 11am on Friday, December 27 at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs. All guests are invited to join the family for a 1pm burial at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles. Please meet at the cemetery office.
