Heavy hearts for our treasured friend and his family.
His infectious smile is what remains in my memory and his courtesy in greeting his customers. Prayers for the family at this challenging time. May God give you peace, comfort and strength.
I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling with the loss of Rick.
My husband and I will never forget him. He was always personable, helpful and willing to talk.
He leaves a hole in our community that we will not be able to fill.
Idk where to start. Knowing Rick forever,he had a smile that is unforgettable. Always gave a hug when I came to Nonnies,we did quick chats about family. I pray for the ENTIRE Filips family Rick’s wife and children.. rest in peace
It is with great sadness that I am reading this. My heartfelt condolences to his family. My husband & I frequently patronized the restaurant, had wedding & baby showers there. He always had a smile and warm conversation. The food was as close to my grandma’s as you could get.
Rest in peace friend.
Went to Cass and Lakeview with Rick. Was always super nice and someone you wanted to be around. Spent many of days playing street hockey and basketball around our neighborhood back then. Although I have not seen Rick in many years, when I heard of his passing I was devastated and made me think of the good times we all had many years ago. My condolences to his family.
My deepest condolences to the whole family. Tim, Tony,Nick, Louise. I can’t stop thinking of the pain you must be going through.. Rick was way too young. If there is anything you or the family needs, I am always here for you.. may God give you peace and strength during this difficult time. Candy.

This is so heartbreaking for our whole community! Not only do we know each other from high school but have been eating here before and even more ever since …. My family and our family here at Steven´s Family Restaurant are praying for you and yours!!! … and Rick you truly will be missed!!
I come from the old school when “Nonnie’s” was off of Woodward. Louise & Tim’s were our favorites. My girls went to school with their kids.
How can I express the loss for the Filips’s family.
Rick never missed sitting down and catching up on family. My ♥️ cries for the whole family. 💔
We enjoyed playing with our ‘Chicago cousins’ as kids, and I remember really fun times with Ricky especially because we were so close in age. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.
Growing up, my mom would take me out to eat every Friday at the old Nonnies on Woodward Ave. She absolutely loved it, as did I. As an adult my daughter and I would go to the new Nonnies on 75th, her father is close with the family. I am so truly sorry for your loss. My heart, love and prayers go to your family.
Aunt Louise, we’re sending love to the whole family, from the whole family. I have really fond memories of Ricky from our family trip way back around 1994, and we’re so saddened to hear of his passing. Too soon.

My husband and I frequent Nonnie’s and Rick was always so nice to all the customers. Rick would frequently stop at our table and ask how everything was, and exchanged fist bumps with my husband. Rick will be missed at Nonnie’s. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick’s family and friends. Rest in Peace, Rick!
So very sorry to hear of Ricky passing. Prayers to your family.
