Dolores Mulvenna, nee Russo age 89, of Wheeling (formerly Downers Grove, Schererville, and Dolton) passed away peacefully at Addolorata Villa on March 1, 2025, following complications of Alzheimer’s. Her love and guidance will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Dolores was born in Chicago to Mildred and Carlo Russo, the sister to siblings Bernard Russo and Lorraine Schwartz. An alumnus of Saint Aquinas High School, it was there while performing in the chorus of a play with Leo High School students that she met the love of her life James “Jim” Mulvenna. They married and enjoyed sixty-two years together until his passing in 2017.

Dolores was a loving mother to Carlo (Debbie), Patrick (Judy), James (Trish), Mark (Kim), and Maureen (Charles) Keough. Known as the adoring and loving Dumplin, Yammie, or Grandma to grandchildren Michael (Liz), Ryan, Mitchell (Amy), Alex (Janice), Carly, Patrick, Kathleen, James and Julia, and great-granddaughter Ramona, who all adored her. Additionally, she is remembered as the beloved aunt to her nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

Dolores and Jim raised a close and loving family while actively supporting numerous parish activities at St. Mary of the Assumption church Chicago/Riverdale. They enjoyed over twenty years of winter snowbird life in Clearwater Beach, Florida where they extended their community of loving friends. Dolores was recognized for her creative talents particularly macrame and cross stitching selling her creations at arts and crafts fairs and a retail specialty shop. She was an active member of her Downers Grove book club enjoying the camaraderie of that special group. As a lifelong Cubs fan, Dolores spent many summer days in the Bleachers keeping a scorecard and continued that joy for years, passing it on to her children.

Visitation 3:00PM until 8:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75^th St., Downers Grove.  Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 S. Cass Ave, Darien.  Interment private.
