PancakeDaniel C. Pancake, Sr. age 76, of LaGrange. Beloved husband of RaeDell M. (nee Marks); loving father to his 5 sons, Charles (Mary) Tapia, Dan Jr.(Beth) Pancake, Adam (Amy) Pancake, Kenneth (Alicia) Tapia and Peter (Adriana) Tapia; cherished grandfather of 9; also survived by 5 brothers and 1 sister; uncle of many. Daniel was an accomplished businessman, mentor, and a true believer in the power of community service. Dan was dedicated to the success of small business, the charitable reach of the Rotary Club, YMCA and Plymouth Place within the LaGrange and Western Springs communities, and the success of institutions like the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce. Dan spent almost 50 years in the Independent Insurance Industry, as a small business owner and partner for a majority of that time. Dan has served the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) under many titles including Vice President of the Year, Government Relations Committee Chair, Partners Program Vice Chair, PIIAIPAC Banks in Insurance Committee, and Vice President of Region 18. Daniel has also done extensive work on the local level. He was past president of the LaGrange Rotary Club, chairman of the Presbytery of Chicago business affairs committee, president of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of the Chicago Youth Center, Plymouth Place, Inc, Rich Port YMCA, LaGrange Hospital, and Aging Care Connections. Most recently, Dan received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce. As a Father and a role model, Dan served as a coach for youth football, soccer and baseball, as well as Den Leader and Pack Leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Dan has also served as a mentor for countless people in the insurance and health care industry. Dan’s lifelong involvement in the church, as a student, a partner, a teacher, and an author, helped him develop and embrace his unwavering faith in God. As dedicated as he was to his career, and community, his dedication and devotion to his family was paramount. Visitation Sunday from 3 to 9 pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, where a chapel service will be held on Monday, July 20, at 10:30 am. There is an additional Visitation time starting at 9:00 am on Monday at the funeral home. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
