Lorraine Janda, 86, a woman of remarkable strength, character, and faith, passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2014. She is survived by Charles, her husband of 63 years whom she loved so dearly each and every day; by her eight children, Marian (Nick) Fuller, Caroline (Michel) Glouchevitch, Charles, Robert (Michele), Nancy (Jordan) Sinow, Catherine, Thomas (Chris), and Richard, all of whom she cherished and taught by example how to live a full life; by her 12 grandchildren, James (Macaela) and Catherine Fuller, John and Cecily Glouchevitch, Robert, Brian, and Christina Janda, Catherine, Andrew, and Claire Sinow, Katherine and William Janda, who brought enormous love and joy to her life; by loving in-laws Regina (Michael) Hansberry, Sue Putman; and by her many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae (O’Dea) Putman, sister Ellen (George) Matthews, brothers Jack and Billy Putman, and infant daughter Mary Ann. Lorraine’s greatest passions were her family and her faith in God. She had an amazing presence and was an inspiration to all of us through her kindness, patience, selflessness, and, above all, love. She forever will be remembered and missed. Visitation Monday, February 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th Street, Countryside. Memorial Mass Tuesday, February 11, 9:45 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
