Elizabeth “Betsy” L. Barritt (nee Lewis), age 80, a 56 year resident of Western Springs, and beloved wife of Lester Barritt, passed away peacefully at her home on January 30. Betsy was born June 16, 1933 in Hinsdale and was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School and Beloit College. Betsy was active in the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Girl Scouts, Village Green Questers and volunteering in her children’s schools and activities. Her great loves, in addition to her family and friends, were gardening, flower arranging, cooking, baking her special dill bread, swimming, tennis, painting, traveling and spending time at their lake home in Wisconsin. Betsy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Les, her children, Dave (Joan), Deb Lyons (Jeff), and Pete, and her grandchildren: Rick (Angela) and Bill Barritt; Katie, Kim, and Mike Lyons; and Becky and Megan Barritt. Great-granddaughter, Harper, was born the day before Betsy passed away. Her brother, David, preceded her in death. Betsy was known for her kindness, graciousness, warm smile and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 14 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs.
