Robert G. Bednarz; beloved husband of Michelle (nee Carraro); brother-in-law of Andrew (Donna) and Lawrence (Barbara) Carraro; cousin of Linda (Edward) Domanski; the best uncle of Kimberly (Dave), Anthony (Melanie), April (Christopher); great-uncle to Christopher, Ella, Aurelia, Gus, Jessica, Gunnar, and the late Jonathan; great-great-uncle of Parker. Robert was a devoted Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran who lived his life by the motto, “Veterans Helping Veterans, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”. He was a Past President and Member of the Berwyn Cicero VietNow and a Past Commander and Adjutant of Berwyn VFW Post 2378. Visitation 3 to 9pm Sunday, Jan. 31 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers 9:30am Monday from the funeral home to St. Cletus Church, LaGrange. Mass 10am. Entombment Christ the King Mausoleum at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Where does a good man and former marine go once his final orders for this duty station have been cut and his life’s foot locker has been inspected, found to be OUTSTANDING and then finally sealed? I think that answer is pretty well spelled out in the last few lines of the Marines Hymn.
If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heavens scenes, They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.
Bob has now been welcomed by his departed comrades in arms from Viet Now and they together will continue to stand eternal sentry.
I cannot help thinking that Bob has already gone up the chain of command and asked permission to start a chapter up there…….or at least a newsletter.
