James T. Mulvenna

James T. Mulvenna, (“Jim”) age 83, of Downers Grove passed away peacefully at home with Dolores, his devoted wife of 62 years, by his side. Jim was a loving father of Carlo (Debbie), Patrick (Judy), James (Tricia), Mark (Kim), and Maureen (Charles) Keough. He adored his grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Mitchell, Alex, Carly, Patrick, Kathleen, James and Julia, and they adored their Papa.  Jim was born in the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, the ninth of eleven children, to Alexander and Julia Mulvenna.  He cherished his siblings Julie (Rob) Schrader, Molly (Phil) Proulx, Charles (Jeanne), Peggy (John) Dvorscek, Alexander (Loretta), Teresa (John) Larkers, Helen (Frank) VanDuerm, John (Bonnie), Patricia (Irv) Pfeiffer and Thomas.  Jim worked for C.N. Russo & Co. in real estate management for 49 years, with his beloved brother-in-law Bernard Russo.  He attended Holy Rosary grammar school, Leo High School, and Marquette University.  Jim was deeply loved by his family and friends and they will miss his Irish humor and dry wit.  Visitation 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove.  Funeral Mass Saturday, July 22, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 Cass Ave, Darien.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Loyola Medicine Hospice, 2301 W. 22nd St., Suite 107, Oak Brook, IL 60523, are greatly appreciated.  Funeral info 630-964-6500

  1. Dear Delores and Family, what a pleasure to have known your Dear Jim and father. He was a man of great wit and he was a straight shooter. I saw for many years the interaction between him and Delores and his siblings … a very close family and the respect that they all have for one another is such a wonderful experience to be a small part of. They all look out and care for each other and that is what being a family is all about. Jim your legacy lives on ….   2. Sending prayers of comfort to this great family. I will forever remember being enveloped in the Mulvenna love when I lived in Chicago. Included in Sunday family dinner is a treat I will always cherish.
