Much love and peace to the family and friends of Coach. He was a tough coach, but it has stuck with me all these years. Leadership.
To the Vashinko family so for your loss I will be praying for peace and comfort for all of the Vashinko family. Mr. Vashinko was an amazing teacher
Mr. Vashinko was my favorite gym teacher! I can’t believe he’s gone. He will me truly missed. One story I will never forget was, I don’t know how to swim, and he told me, what do I have to do to get you to jump off the diving phone and i said “never” and he said so that you don’t jump alone, I will be in the pool along with the whole gym class and he was and they did! After I jumped they all clapped. Best feeling ever thanks to him.
So sad. Prayers to the family!
Was a great man. His whole family is really wonderful. Heaven has a new angel!????

Graduating class of 1998, many many moons ago, and still remember Coach Vashinko as if it was yesterday. He was a true and respected leader, and an example to follow. May he rest in Heaven. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
RIP Coach, you were one of the greats. My suncere condolences to his family. Class of ’83
I’m a graduate of the class of 76. We had a connection from the beginning because coach Vashinko went to school with my late sister Barbara Cicela (Niezgoda). Our daughter went to Morton West and also knew him. He was our football/track coach/gym teacher. Because we always stayed late after school, he would give me money to buy him a snickers bar at the corner store. I just ran into him a couple of weeks ago and he is still the same sweet guy he always was. Never forgets who you are and always has a memory to share. We may have lost him here, but we will never forget him and all that he meant to so many of us at Morton.
Mr. Vashinko was one of the best coaches. When I first transferred to ME, he tried to get me on the football team. I was kind of skinny at the time, so I did another sport. I got to be part of the “M” club that he also supervised. He always had good advice. When I went to college (USAF Academy), I started filling in on my skinny frame. I visited ME on break and saw Mr. Vashinko who said to keep up the good work in developing. I will remember Mr. Vashinko as the awesome coach with the mustache.
Carol and family,
I, along with the Culver-Stockton College family, are deeply saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. Bob was an amazing athlete hence his induction into the athletic hall of fame, but more so he was a genuine and kind person. As classmates, he came to Culver from Chicago and I from a rural Missouri town. Certainly a lot of cultural differences that made for a wonderful friendship. A true loss to mankind but his positive influence on so many will live on.
Rest In Peace my friend…
Thanks for your sincere reply. He loved CS.
Carol
He was an amazing coach and person! He pushed me to be the best and I am grateful to have had the pleasure to cross paths! R.I.P.
We will really miss our dear friend Bob. A friendly, kind and out going guy! We had many good times with Bob & Carol over the years! God Bless you Bob and may he keep you in his tender loving care!
My condolences to the Vashinko family. I had the pleasure of playing football for him and it brings back many great memories. May he rest in peace. Class of 1976.
Mr Vashinko and I became good friends after my grandpa Art Rybarski ( fieldhouse custodian) introduced us.
When Mr Vashinko was my teacher in Leadership class the following year, we got into a big disagreement. I stood my ground and he stood his. I think we both had a new found respect afterwards for each other. I admired him. He did not talk to his students like kids. We were people to him. He was a good man and was a wonderful mentor. Truly sad to hear he is gone. Never forgotten.
Condolences to the family. Coach was an inspirational man who left his mark on many. Had Leadership with him and can still remember his stern look that would often break into a smirk. He was tough but compassionate too. Prayers for the family.
Class of 1989

You were a great teacher, coach, but most important, a great person I looked up to when I was in High School. You have a great family who have followed, and are still following your footsteps. You’ll be truly missed. RIP Coach Vashinko.

We will really miss our dear friend Bob. A friendly, kind and out going guy! We had many good times with Bob & Carol over the years! God Bless you Bob and may he keep you in his tender loving care!
Saddened to hear this. But the memories of him brought a smile back to my face! He was a awesome teacher and genuinely a wonderful man!!!
He was a great coach and told some pretty excellent corny jokes! I was the track manager for a few years at Morton and we would shoot the breeze all the time during practice and meets. He was so supportive and encouraging. Always looked for the best in people and wanted to give everyone an opportunity to shine. He’s one of the reasons I went into education and will truly be missed. Sending lots of love to his family and friends.
My sincere condolences to Coach’s family and friends. Clasd of ’85.
He was great. He saved me from some real big problems I had one day. Surprised me. I never expected him to get me out of a jam I quickly found myself in with the office. I could have got thrown out of school. He said to me “I batted for you just be more careful in the future”. Out of the blue he helped me without me asking! He was a awesome person and my gym teacher.
It was an honor an privilege to get to play in the same backfield at Culver with you. We left a lot of
blood, sweat, and tears on that field playing our hearts out along with our team mates, which seems just like yesterday. Now, I must say good-bye to my friend Bobby…….God Bless you Bobby
Vashinko and may God be with you always…….Bruce Rowe
Bobby was a great human being on the field and off. I was his football teammate and Fraternity brother. We was on the winning 1969 football team and the record still is the best today.Bobby and I played both ways and I attended his Hall of Fame Induction. We both set records in football and when I made it into the Hall of Fame for football. He called me and congratulated me. Pound for pound he was the best halfback ever to play at CS. I send my condolences, along with teammates Millard Bondurant. Chico Compton, Jimmy Edwards,Jenkins Davis to the Family. God Bless. I will be attending .

I love you and will miss you forever. Love your cousin Susie .
Mr. V,
You were the first person to have noticed good in me. You made me join the Leadership program and from there, i began to lead others. I later joined the military and realized that your motivation was the reason I was something more important in life. Thank you Sir, because of you, I will continue to set the example and lead others.
My favorite gym teacher, hero to me and certainly many others. He encouraged me to develop my physical attributes. To me, he continues to inspire others, wherever he may be found.
