Dorothy Marie Portner
Dorothy Marie Portner (nee Kirk), age 92, of Western Springs, formerly of Summit. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Michael Portner. Loving mother of James Kevin (Laura) and Kevin Michael Portner. Devoted grandmother of Carolyn Elizabeth and Nicholas Joseph Portner. Preceded in death by her three cherished siblings: Edward, Rev. William, and Jack Kirk. Dorothy is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Meet at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd, Western Springs, IL 60558, for visitation Monday, August 28, 2017, 8:30am until time of Mass 9:45am. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. What a remarkable lady. Worked with her in the ACHS library many, many years ago. She was so kind and had the sweetest face. We both loved this wonderful lady. Sending our deepest sympathy to all her family and friends. RIP Mrs. Portner.

her life to the fullest and was a devoted mother. Memories of the wonderful holiday
dinners were held in her home with the rest of the families.
My memories of Aunt Dodie are seeing her with a twinkle in her eye and big smile on her face!!! I remember the holiday dinners that had lots of laughs, plenty of food, and Aunt Dodie finding a place for everyone to sit!

I knew Mrs. Portner from my days as a student at Argo and through my long career association with the high school. She was loved and respected by the students and staff as well as being a great asset to the community as a whole. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and loved ones at this time..

Mrs. Portner worked in the Library during my years as a student at Argo. She was a very nice lady with the kindest little voice.
My deepest sympathy on the loss of Dorothy. She was a great Lady and a beautiful person. Always smiling with a kind word for all. My children remember her at the library, she would know all the children by name and never forget a one. We would see her at party giving by my late husbands uncle Frank and Jeanette Foron, she was so much fun, just a delightful person to be around. I know you will miss her dearly and I will as my my children Mary, Ed, and Joe remember her as the sweet kind woman she was.
