Richard Allen Provost, 70, of LaGrange Park. Beloved son of Phyllis and the late James. Loving husband of Kathy. Devoted father of Kristin Provost (Charles Gibson “Wolf”) and Jeanette (Marc) Austra. Cherished grandfather of Kevin and Jordan Jackson, Andrew Provost, Crystal, Brandon, Jason, Katelyn and Megan Austra and great-grandfather of Evelyn Austra. Dear brother of Paul (Sue), Bill (Diane), Tim (Marsha) Provost and the late Mary Ellen (Fred) Gonzalez. Fond uncle of many. Beloved son-in-law of Eugene and Dale Skorepa. Visitation 3 to 9pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th Street, Countryside. Prayers 9:15am Monday, January 22, 2018 at the funeral home to St. Francis Xavier Church, LaGrange. Mass at 10am. Interment Mount Carmel Cemetery. From my Monson Family in Fairbury to Dick’s Family we want to send prayers, special loving thoughts and hugs to all who’s grieving about Dick. He was a great person who will be missed. We all have years and years of memories to help our hearts heal. Heaven gained a good guy, Rest in Peace Dick! Have fun playing Horseshoes all day with Gene Henry and my Dad, Larry Schuble. My heart goes out to you Kathy and your family. We went through this 3 1/2 years ago and it’s not easy! I have such great memories of Dick and the four of us and our families together back in the day, the lake house was just one. Wish I could be there but winters up in Wisconsin are brutal, pending snow storm this weekend and appointment on Monday. Hang on to your faith and God will get you through this. I worked with Richie at the La Grange Park Post Office off and on for thirty years. He was the kindest, most generous and one of the hardest working people I’ve met. I don’t think I had ever heard him say a bad word about anyone and I don’t think he had ever raised his voice in anger. The world has lost a beautiful soul. The worlds loss is Heavens gain. I was blessed to know you and now the Angels are blessed to have you delivering their letters. Amen Richie you’re the greatest! I’m sorry sorry for the Provost family’s loss.

Our hearts are sad to see Dick leave all of you so suddenly. We love and pray for Kathy and family, Phyllis, Bill & Diane, Paul & Sue and Tim & Marsha and all the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews. We were lucky enough to buy the house next to the Provost’s in 1972 and immediately became part of their family. Lately I would see Dick at Kohl’s and catch up on family stuff.
