It was our privilege to know Mrs Van Winkle. She and her entire family are and were a big part in our lives and the lives of our parents Billie and Bob! It is nice to think of Van and Dorothy dancing together again in heaven.
Behind every great man stands a strong and enduring woman. That is how it was with Dorothy and Mr. Van. They were the most devoted couple, ever, working side by side over the years. I will now miss Dorothy’s gracious presence, as I have missed Mr. Van’s, at the finest salon they created. Dorothy greeted every client with her great smile and always had a moment for pleasant conversation. She continued on, working each day, with her remarkable ability to recall much. Dorothy was one in a million and will be sorely missed by the many clients, who became more than customers to her. I am happy that Dorothy and Van will once again be each other’s best dance partner.
I have known the family for over 40 years and Dorothy was always in the shop waiting with a smile and hug! I will miss seeing her but know that she and Van will forever be a part of each other and Mr. Van’s. Dance on, youngsters! I miss you.
I called her Mrs. Van and eventually Dorothy, as I grew up. She was always so kind and sweet to me, offering a lil coffee or donut at the shop, by giving my Mom a job for 47 years too! I saw Dorothy every time I’d visit my Mom at work which was fairly often at times. Such a sweet person but quietly in charge. I love you Dorothy! Right now, she’s dancing with Mr. Van once again, I know it. Much love to the family, also all dear friends of ours. Dorothy’s was truly, a full and bright life! She is and always will be an inspiration to us all. This is how it’s done, folks. Her love and example will live on.
