Edwin James “Ed” Zitnik, Jr., 66, of Naperville. Beloved husband of Gail. Loving father of Scott (Terianne) Zitnik and Lara (Michael) Himes. Devoted grandfather of Robyn, Charles, Annie and Leah Zitnik, Greyson, Avery and Quinn Himes. Dear brother of John (Lutchie) Zitnik, Pam (Michael) Abernathy, James (Mary) Zitnik and the late Penny (Adam) Simoncelli. Fond uncle of many. Greyson said grandpa Ed played catch with him and went to his games. Avery said “he played with me”. I’ll remember his great sense of humor and his laugh.

I knew Ed from the coffee room at work (first in Downers Grove, then in Chicago), where we’d find each other frequently and talk about Naperville, grandkids, train schedules etc. I’m so shocked to hear this sad news and want the family to know that they are in my thoughts. Ed was such a hard worker – always at work at the crack of dawn and still there when I was leaving. I will miss seeing yet another familiar face at work.
