Choosing Cremation
Cremations
Hallowell & James provides dignified cremation options for families. Many service and memorial options that conclude with cremation are available. There are two methods of cremation from which to choose. In addition to traditional flame cremation, hydrolysis, a water based method is also available in Illinois. If you are interested in learning more about either of the cremation methods, please contact a Hallowell & James Licensed Funeral Director for more details.
If you choose Cremation, many traditional services remain available to families:
- Church Service: A church Memorial Celebration can be personalized with special family photographs and personal mementos.
- Graveside Service: An outdoor Memorial Garden gathering is one of several service options.
- Memorial Service: Memorial Registry Books, Memorial Service folders, Flag cases and personal floral tributes can personalize the service or ceremony of your loved one.
Cremation followed by burial in consecrated ground is an approved rite of burial by the Catholic Church. Scattering of cremains is also a method many families choose to honor the wishes of their loved one.
A licensed funeral director will oversee the cremation of the remains and their return to the family. We can provide a selection of Cremation Urns for purposes of saving the cremains, mausoleum or cemetery interment, or a suitable receptacle for the family's ability to scatter the cremains. We will facilitate all of the important decisions and legal requirements so families may honor the memory of their loved one in the manner they desire.
