Marie Fettkether Coyne

CoyneMarie Fettkether Coyne, was born November 27, 1935, and her 79 years were filled with faith, service and love. Loving wife to John Coyne and devoted mother to Tom Coyne, Cathy(Don) Gunhus, Jim (Diana) Coyne, Mike (Heather) Coyne and Carol (Tom) Scotty. Grandmother to: Grant and Brett Gunhus; Kelly, Chris, Megan and Aileen Coyne; Adam, Scotty and Alison Coyne; and Alex, Seamus and Finley Scotty. Sister of Ellen (Jim) Newton as well as a devoted Aunt. A four-time cancer survivor, Marie’s experiences will serve as examples of courage and resilience for many years to come. She was an active parishioner at St. John of the Cross in Western Springs for 47 years. Marie had a life of meaningful work. An avid supporter and participant in the communities of her alma maters, St. Philip Neri School and Aquinas High School, she loved bringing people together through organizing class reunions and gatherings. Marie was a recipient of the Wellness House‘s “Heart of the House Award” for her service guiding newly diagnosed cancer patients. Through her many volunteering roles, Marie touched the lives of many. Visitation Monday , May 18, from 4 to 8pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers Tuesday, May 19, 9:15am from the funeral home to St. John of The Cross Church, 5005 S. Wolf Rd., Western Springs, for a 9:45am Mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
