Dale Anderson

Dale AndersonDale Anderson, of Woodridge, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at LaGrange Hospital.  He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Anderson, a cousin, Jerry Valdivia, and many close friends.  Born in Beverly, IL, he went to Morgan Park High School, then Blackburn College for his BA, and DePaul for his master’s degree.  He taught 7th & 8th grade math at Herrick Middle School in Downers Grove for 38 years and was named teacher of the year in 1997.  After retiring, he took up carpentry, designing and making furniture.  As a young person, he learned to play the accordion, and, while in high school, he performed with three other students to earn money.  He also was accomplished on the keyboard.  Having a love of jazz, he started the jazz band at Downers Grove North High School, and often took the students to perform outside of school.  He also loved animals, visiting the zoo, and photographing many of his favorite animals.  Memorial Visitation 2pm until time of Memorial Service 4pm Monday, June 6, 2016 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75th St., Downers Grove.  Memorials may be made to the Michael J.
