Michael Brindley jpgMichael Gerard Knapp Brindley, 16, of Clarendon Hills, died suddenly last week of natural causes. The beloved son of Robert and Kristine (Knapp) Brindley, Michael, born October 7, 1999 and was a rising junior at Hinsdale Central High School.  A member of the broadcast journalism club, Michael was also a new staff writer for the school’s award winning Devils’ Advocate publication. He was a student writer for the Clarendon Hills Daisy Field Life magazine, contributing regularly with an athlete of the month column.  An avid sports fan, Michael shared his spirited opinions and predictions through his blog www.just1mike.com.  Michael’s latest prediction was that his beloved Cubs would win the World Series this year.  He was proud of his distinction as First Class Brindley at Culver Academies Summer Camp in Indiana, and was attending his third year in the program. Michael was a bright light to all who knew him. Michael is survived by his parents Bob and Kristy of Clarendon Hills; his brothers Robbie and Jack; his paternal grandmother Mary Brindley; his maternal grandmother Wilma Knapp and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He joins his late grandfathers, Robert J. Brindley and David W. Knapp, in eternity. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 30, from 3 to 9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 West 55th St, Countryside. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 1, 10am in the auditorium of Hinsdale Central High School, 5500 S. Grant St., Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Advocate Children’s Heart Institute, 3075 Highland Parkway, Downers Grove, IL 60515, in loving memory of Michael.   1. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael’s family and friends. I was heartbroken to learn of his passing last week. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael and getting to see him in clinics at the children’s heart institute. Please accept my condolences.

  2. Bob, I am sure you remember me from McCord, as I always held you in high regard. I was saddened to hear of your son Michael’s passing and my wife and I are only able to offer our deepest sympathy and condolences as any more profound words seem to fall short. Michael was obviously a shining star both as a young man and a student at Central. We know that he will be deeply missed. Our prayers are with you and your family.

    I was very sad to hear through Dan Keller that your son Michael had passed. You had to be so proud of him and all that he accomplished in his life. My heart goes out to both of you and will pray that in time the pain of this loss will pass and all that you will share are the wonderful memories you each have of him.
