Robert Charles Fencl, age 92, long- time resident of Western Springs; recently of La Grange Park passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 25, 2016.  He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen (Martin); children, Mary Jo Rettinger, Maureen (William) Hollander, Karen Neal, Diane (Azike Ntephe) and Bob (Tessa); 9 grandchildren and many other extended family members and dear friends.  Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Josephine and sister Dorothy.  Proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy.  Graduated from IIT with engineering degree and went on to a career of over 30 years at Western Electric as a senior mechanical engineer. Most of all, he enjoyed time with family and friends, travel, winters in Florida, golf and bridge.  Memorial Service at Plymouth Place 315 N La Grange Road Dole Hall on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:30 pm.  Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral home at 708/352-6500.
