Herbert Erich Marohn age 82, of Clarendon Hills, passed away the evening of November 21. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 10 meter strip Recon on German border, Morse Code Team Chief.  Dearly beloved husband of Virginia A. (nee Metzger) devoted father of Heidi (Nii Mensah) Marohn, Inger (John Ranos) Marohn and Eric (Melissa) Marohn; loving “Opa” of Luke, Gabe and the late Ella; Jennifer Azure and Jamie (John) Cresto; Lordina and Seth Koranteng; “Gross Opa” of Pearl, Mabel and Amelia.  He is also survived by many cousins, was a loving uncle and friend to many.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 3pm to 9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.  In State on Tuesday, November 28, 9am until time of a 10am service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 47th & Brainard Ave., LaGrange.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SOFT (Support Organization for Trisomy 18, 13 and Related Disorders; www.trisomy.org) or Faith, Hope and Peace Ministries (fhpministries.org) to which Herb was a charter musical member.
