Donald E. “Don” Cuttill

Donald E. “Don” Cuttill, age 87, of Hodgkins, formerly of Lemont, left his earthly home on April 29, 2018      . Don was born to Edward and Dorothy Cuttill (Frye), on June 4, 1930, in Lemont. Having proudly served our great nation, Don was a US Army Korean War Veteran, a member of the Illinois National Guard, and a devoted member of the American Legion Coulter Post 1941.

Don was preceded in death by his infant children, Mary and John, and his beloved wife of 33 years, Pauline Cuttill (Desrochers). He is survived by his long-time close companion, Alice Mikrut, his five children; Don, Larry (Karen), Barbara Basak, Tom, and Kathleen (Julius) Hansen. Devoted grandfather of Nathan and Lauren Cuttill, Deana (Daniel) DePue, Evan Cuttill, Shaun (Laura) Cuttill, Josh (Rachel) Cuttill, Lisa (Carlos) Valenzuela, Cheryl (Omar) Gutierrez, Kris (Jinene) Basak and Jonathan Basak, Angela (Matt) Peacock, Jessie Allen and Justin (Ashley) Cuttill, Lucreshea (Mike) Ravey, and Kaleigh and Erik Hansen; a great-grandfather of 23. Dear brother of Shirley (Tony) Matejcak, Jean Carroll, and Faye (Charles) Walker, a loving uncle and friend to many.

Don faithfully served the Village of Hodgkins for 37 years in various capacities. He was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals in 1981, appointed Village Trustee in 1982 to fill a vacancy, reappointed again in 1984 to fill a vacancy, and was elected three times. He served as the Chairman of the Police Committee, a member of the Building and Finance Committee, and the 9-1-1 Board, serving from December 1992 to July 1995. He also served as a member of the collective bargaining sessions between the Village of Hodgkins and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police labor council Lodge #151. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3rd, 3 to 9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Meet Directly at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St, La Grange for 10:00 a.m. Mass on Friday, May 4th. Interment Private.
