Stephen Paul Radasevich, 94, long-time resident of Woodridge; beloved husband of the late Nancy; loving father of the late Ray (the late Mindy), Robert “Rudy” (Eileen) and Maryan “Pie” (Richard) Veverka; and adoring Papa/Popo of Jimmy (Rockie) Veverka, Katie (Chris) Farnsworth, Julie Radasevich and Abby Radasevich. After 7 years in service of our Country in World War II and Korea, Steve began his lengthy career as a research chemist with Cities Service and later International Harvester. Steve loved to fish and golf and was fiercely loyal to ALL Chicago sports teams. Before the age of computers, Steve could fix darn near anything. He instilled his love of the outdoors, his handyman skills and his devotion to Chicago sports teams in his kids who passed them along to theirs — with the notable exception that the Radasevich side are Cubs fanatics and the Veverka side are Sox loyalists. Steve spent his later years enjoying his grandkids and watching any kind of sports on TV — as long as the sport involved some type of ball. Steve lost Nancy, the love of this life, in 2001 and his first born, Ray, in 2011. The last several years were particularly challenging, and Steve’s family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Naperville, Senior Star at Weber Place in Romeoville and Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice for taking wonderful care of their dad/grandpa. Steve was a gentle soul and never missed a chance to ask how everyone else was doing. He will be dearly missed. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 23rd at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Prayers 9:15 a.m. Monday Sept. 24th from the funeral home to St. Scholastica Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
