Penny Simoncelli
Penelope “Penny” Simoncelli, age 61, of Downers Grove. Beloved wife of Adam for 32 years. Loving mother of Ashley (Jason) Jusk, Alyssa Simoncelli and Adam Joseph “A.J.” (Lindsay) Simoncelli. Devoted sister of Edwin Jr. (Gail) Zitnik, John (Lutchie) Zitnik, Pam (Michael) Abernathy and Jim (Mary) Zitnik. Cherished daughter-in-law of Peter and Carol Simoncelli and sister-in-law of Peter (Donna) Simoncelli, Russ (Lisa) Simoncelli, Tammy Jordan and Michele (John) Ott. Dear aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Penny will also be missed by her loving dog Rocky. Preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Dee Zitnik. Visitation 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 21st, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Prayers 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home to St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove for mass at 10 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Funeral home phone 630-964-6500.

Growing up, we had many happy family parties with all fifteen cousins running through one of our aunts’ or uncles’ homes. Penny was part of that fun and of many of our visits to Grandma Birdie’s house when Uncle Ed and Aunt Dee lived upstairs. There were also vacations at Lake Dellavin when our families stayed at resorts on different sides of the lake. Our five children were close in age to their five, which only added to the fun and chaos. I’m sure there were many times all the adults wished we were quieter!
Our family will keep Penny in our prayers along with her family during this difficult time. Bless you all.
