On Thursday, March 12, 2020, Wilma Frew Beshoar, loving mother of three children, passed away at the age of 93.
Wilma was born on April 7, 1926 in Joliet, Illinois to William and Bernice Frew. She attended Joliet Township HS and received her Associates degree from Joliet Junior College in 1946. Wilma married her high school sweetheart, John Richard “Jack” Beshoar on October 5, 1945 during his brief furlough while serving in the Army during WWII. Wilma performed bookkeeping duties, in her early adulthood, for several different businesses, including a large sporting goods store in Champaign, IL to support her husband while he completed his college education at the University of Illinois. Wilma became a fulltime homemaker.
A life altering event occurred when Wilma’s husband, Jack, died in a commercial airplane crash in December 1972. She went on to become a very skilled stock options trader and was recognized in Business Week magazine in 1977 for her savvy investment skills. Additionally, Wilma was recognized as a community leader both at her church and several organizations either serving as president, treasurer, or secretary. One of her proudest accomplishments was being elected to the District 204 Lyons Township HS school board which she served on for thirteen years. Her spare time allowed her to focus on gardening, playing bridge, hosting potlucks, extensive travel around the world and all of this while being an loving mother, grandmother and aunt.
Forever missed by her children, Debbie (Ken), David (Shawna) and Perry (Rose Winter), and grandchildren, Jack (Lisa), Daniel, Andrew (Emily), Caitlin (Matt Schillo), Jack, many nieces and nephews and her cat, Pepper.
The burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery at 23060 W. Jefferson in Joliet on Saturday, March 21. Family & friends will meet at the cemetery office at 11:30 a.m. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Hinsdale Humane Society at hinsdalehumanesociety.org. Wilma was a cat lover extraordinaire!

Dear Debbie, Dave, Perry and families,
So sorry to hear about Wilma. She and Mom had a special friendship that went back many many years. I have many happy memories of our families getting together when we were young. It’s so so hard to lose your Mom, but memories will keep her with you forever. Sorry I could not attend the services but know you were all in my thoughts and prayers.
