Georgine A. Krizek

Krizek, Georgine A. (née Dowiat). Downers Grove, IL. January 18, 1932 ~ February 28, 2021

After 89 years of adventures, Georgine Krizek passed away on February 28, 2021. Beloved wife of Edward C. Krizek DDS (deceased). Surviving Georgine are her children, Carolyn, Christopher DDS (Debora) and Thomas; Granddaughters, Caitlin, Grace, Sophia, and Reagan; her cousins that made her their sister, Richard and Sharron Jaskunas, Muffy and Terry Francke, Tom and Tess Jaskunas, and Jim and Mike Jaskunas.

Georgine will be remembered for grabbing life with both hands, and for touching so many lives with her humor and charisma. Family and friends, her English students at Morton West and Downers Grove North all enjoyed her stories, antics, and larger than life persona.

A life full of entertaining and traveling, Georgine was always up for a party and an adventure. Georgine and Edward shared a love for traveling and the sense of adventure of what might be around the next corner. After Edward’s passing in 2006, she continued her adventures in his memory: From Alaska to Crete, where she “rescued” her beloved and devoted dog, Minos from the streets, to Kenya, in 2019 where she slept in tents and was awoken by roaring lions on the Serengeti Plain.

Georgine had two favorite quotes and lived accordingly.

“Do one thing every day that scares you” -Eleanor Roosevelt

She certainly did that.

“I did it my way” -Frank Sinatra

She absolutely did that.

  3. My wonderful full of life friend I will miss you dearly. I will go to St. Anthony Church this summer for the Mass we never attended together. I will raise my glass of wine to you often and of course, with cheese and crackers. I never got to say good bye but will say now SEE YOU.

  4. Georgine, my sweet and amazing friend who reluctantly needed help because she knew she was self sufficient. Every moment I spent with you was amazing and you supported me all through out nursing school. I’m so glad I got to share with you that I graduated and became a nurse like you always wanted me to become. Although you hated shots, you always let me know that I could give you one. Thank you for giving me a shot, I’m so glad we met. I will miss you dearly. Love you, until we meet again.
